UPSC Geologist Exam Pattern: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Geologists Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board Exam once in a year. Geologists Exam Pattern details given below.
UPSC conducts Geologists Exam in three stages.
1) Written Examination
2) Interview/Personality Test
3) Document Verification
1) Written examination: Geologists written exam consists of 5 papers .The examination conducts for various posts under 2 categories. Category -I for Geological survey of India (GSI) category -II for Central Ground Water Board (CGWB).In this examination all the subjects will be of conventional (essay) type with English language question papers .Answers must be in English only .The commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination. The Test total carries maximum marks of 900.. subjects,maximum marks details given below:-

For Category-I Geological survey of India (GSI) candidates have to appear in Papers I to IV above only and for Category-II Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) candidates appear in Papers I to III and V above only.
2) Interview/Personality Test: The Test carries 200 marks .The candidates, who perform well in written examination, are called for personality test. In Interview unbiased observers who will have before them a record of his career. On the basis of personality test to assessing the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application, integrity of character and aptitude for adapting themselves to the field life.
3) Document Verification: Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.
