A Kabaddi Match
What is Kabaddi?
Kabaddi is an ancient sport that started in India and is now played in many countries.
How it is played:
- Two teams of 7 players play in a rectangular court.
 - A raider goes to the opponent’s side and tries to touch players while saying “Kabaddi-Kabaddi” without breathing in.
 - The opponents try to catch the raider before he returns.
 - A team scores points for every opponent they get “out.”
 - If a team gets all 7 players out, the other team gets a bonus “lona” (extra points).
 
Rules of Kabaddi
- Each team takes turns sending a raider to the opponent’s side.
 - The raider must tag opponents and return to his side without taking another breath while chanting “Kabaddi-Kabaddi”.
 - The opponents try to catch the raider and stop him from returning.
 - If the raider touches a player and returns safely, the opponent is out.
 - If a raider is caught and cannot return, he is out.
 - If all 7 players of a team are out, the other team gets extra points (Lona).
 - The team with the most points wins the match.
 
Types of Kabaddi
- Sanjeevani Kabaddi – Out players return one by one after each point.
 - Gaminee Kabaddi – Out players do not return until the game ends.
 - Amar Kabaddi – Out players remain in the game but the team loses points.
