The Worth of a Fabric
1. About Thiruvalluvar:
- He was a great Tamil Saint-poet who lived more than 2000 years ago.
 - He wrote a famous book called “Thirukkural” which teaches good values.
 - He was also a textile weaver and made beautiful fabrics and saris.

 - He wanted to test if Thiruvalluvar ever got angry.

3. The Young Man’s Challenge:
- He went to Thiruvalluvar’s shop and asked the price of a fabric.
 - Thiruvalluvar said it cost 8 coins.
 - The young man tore the fabric into half and kept asking for its price.
 - Each time, Thiruvalluvar calmly reduced the price to half.
 - Finally, when the fabric was torn into rags, he said, “It has become worthless.”

4. The Lesson:
- The young man wanted to pay 8 coins, but Thiruvalluvar refused.
 - He explained that many people had worked hard to make the fabric, and money could not bring back their effort.
 - He compared the fabric to life—if we ruin it with bad habits, we cannot get it back.
 - The young man realized his mistake and decided to change his ways.

5. Moral of the Story
- Patience and hard work are important.
 - We should respect others’ efforts.
 - Our life is like a fabric—once ruined, it cannot be fixed.
