Mechanical force: The force applied by machines. Example: A washing machine spinning clothes.
Electrostatic force: The force exerted by electrically charged objects. Example: A rubbed balloon attracting paper pieces.
Frictional force: The force that opposes motion. Example: A bicycle stopping when brakes are applied.
Magnetic force: The force exerted by a magnet. Example: A magnet pulling iron nails.

5. Why?
Answer – (a) Machines are oiled from time to time → To reduce friction and make them work smoothly.
(b) An object thrown upwards comes down after reaching a point → Because of the gravitational force of the Earth.
(c) Powder is sprinkled on a carrom board → To reduce friction and help the striker move smoothly.
(d) The ramp at a railway station has a rough surface → To increase friction and prevent people from slipping.
