2. Answer the following questions.

1. What are the provisions in a secular Constitution?

Answer: A secular Constitution ensures that all religions are treated equally. No religion is considered the State religion, and the government does not discriminate among citizens based on religion. Every citizen has the freedom to follow and practice their own religion.

2. What is meant by adult franchise?

Answer: Adult franchise means that all citizens who are 18 years of age or older have the right to vote in elections, regardless of their caste, creed, sex, or economic status. It ensures political justice by allowing equal participation in governance.

3. What right does economic justice ensure?

Answer: Economic justice ensures that poverty is eradicated and that every individual has the right to a source of livelihood. It aims to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor and prevent the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few.

4. How will human dignity be established in a society?

Answer: Human dignity is established when every individual is treated with equal respect, regardless of caste, creed, race, sex, or language. By promoting fraternity and ensuring justice, liberty, and equality, a society can uphold human dignity.


3. How should we make use of our freedom? Write your views about it.

Answer: We should use our freedom responsibly. While we have the right to express our thoughts and follow our beliefs, we must also respect the rights of others. Freedom should not be misused to harm others or disrupt social harmony. For example, celebrating festivals should be done in a way that does not cause inconvenience to others. True freedom lies in following rules that benefit society as a whole.


4. Explain the following concepts.

1. Socialist State:

Answer: A socialist state aims to reduce economic inequalities by ensuring that wealth is distributed fairly among all citizens. It prevents the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few and ensures that everyone has access to basic necessities.

2. Equality:

Answer: Equality means that all individuals have the same status and opportunities, regardless of caste, creed, race, sex, or place of birth. It ensures that no one is treated as superior or inferior and that everyone has equal chances for growth.

3. Sovereign State:

Answer: A sovereign state is one that is independent and free from external control. It has the authority to make its own laws and decisions without interference from foreign powers.

4. Equality of Opportunity:

Answer: Equality of opportunity means that every citizen has the same chance to develop and progress in life. There should be no discrimination in education, employment, or other aspects of life based on caste, religion, or social background.
