1. How did the kingdoms of Vijaynagar and Bahamani emerge?

  • The Vijaynagar Kingdom was founded in 1336 CE by Harihar and Bukka, while the Bahamani Kingdom was established in 1347 CE by Hasan Gangu after rebelling against the Delhi Sultanate.

2. What reforms did Mahmud Gawan make?

  • Mahmud Gawan introduced land revenue reforms, paid soldiers in cash, and disciplined the army. He also established a Madarsa in Bidar for Arabic and Persian studies.

3. Why did it become impossible for the Mughals to strengthen their base in Assam?

  • She was the queen of Gondvana and fought bravely against Akbar but sacrificed her life instead of surrendering.

5. Give reasons:


1. The Bahamani Kingdom disintegrated into five fragments.

  • Internal conflicts, wars with Vijaynagar, and the independent actions of provincial governors led to its break-up into five smaller states (Bijapur, Ahmadnagar, Golconda, Bidar, and Berar).

2. Rana Sang’s army was defeated.

  • Babur’s powerful artillery and strong army defeated Rana Sang’s forces in the Battle of Khanwa in 1527 CE.

3. Rana Pratap has become immortal in history.

  • Rana Pratap fought bravely against Akbar to protect Mewar’s freedom and never surrendered, making him a symbol of courage and patriotism.

4. Aurangzeb imprisoned Guru Teghbahaddar.

  • Guru Teghbahaddar opposed Aurangzeb’s forced religious conversions, so Aurangzeb arrested and executed him in 1675 CE.

5. The Rajputs fought against the Mughals.

  • The Rajputs wanted to protect their kingdoms and independence, so they fought against the Mughals, who wanted to control their lands.
