 Speaker’s Beliefs


  • Advice is easy and cheap; real listening is rare.
  • People are not helpless-they may be struggling, but they can improve.
  • Doing things for someone else can make them feel inadequate (not good enough).
  • Understanding emotions is more important than fixing them.

  • Speaker compares a good listener to God who is silent and listens without giving advice.
  • Emphasizes that silence and presence are more powerful than words.

  • Listening shows respect and care.
  • It helps the speaker understand themselves better.
