“अन एपीटम ऑफ करेज” ही कथा डॉ. स्टीफन हॉकिंग यांना समर्पित आहे, जे २०व्या शतकातील महान शास्त्रज्ञ होते. ८ जानेवारी १९४२ रोजी ऑक्सफर्ड, इंग्लंड येथे जन्मलेल्या स्टीफन यांना लहानपणापासूनच गणित आणि संगीताची आवड होती. त्यांचे वडील त्यांना वैद्यकीय अभ्यासक्रम करायला सांगत होते, परंतु त्यांनी ऑक्सफर्ड विद्यापीठात भौतिकशास्त्राचा अभ्यास करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला.

Born on January 8, 1942, in Oxford, England, Stephen was a curious child with a passion for mathematics and music. Despite his father’s wish for him to study medicine, he pursued physics at the University of Oxford, as mathematics was not offered there. At the age of 17, Stephen began experiencing symptoms of a rare disease, ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), which gradually left him paralyzed.
Undeterred by his physical limitations, Stephen continued his research on cosmology and black holes, earning a Ph.D. and contributing groundbreaking theories, such as the concept of “Lie Algebra” and insights into the Big Bang theory. Confined to a wheelchair and unable to speak without a computer, he communicated profound scientific ideas with wit and clarity. His book, A Brief History of Time, became a global bestseller, making complex ideas accessible to the common reader.
