Selection Process For RRB NTPC Exam

The selection process for RRB NTPC consists of five main stages. Below is a detailed description of the selection procedure:

1st Computer Based Test

The 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) will be common for all RRB NTPC positions. This screening test will adhere to the educational standards required for the posts. The normalized scores from the 1st Stage CBT will be used to shortlist candidates for the 2nd Stage CBT based on their merit.

2nd Computer Based Test

Candidates for the 2nd Stage CBT will be shortlisted based on their normalized marks from the 1st Stage CBT. The total number of candidates selected will be 15 times the number of vacancies in each community category as advertised by the RRB, according to their merit in the 1st Stage CBT. However, the Railways reserve the right to adjust this number up or down, either overall or for specific categories, to ensure there are sufficient candidates for all the notified positions.

Typing Test

Typing Test will be conducted for the various posts such as Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Comm. Cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk Cum Typist, Junior Clerk Cum Typist, and Trains Clerk. According to the RRB NTPC Notification, the details for the RRB NTPC Typing Test is as follows:-

  • The Typing Skill Test (TST) will be conducted as a qualifying test (marks will not affect final merit).
  • Candidates will be called in a ratio of eight times the number of vacancies for each community.
  • Typing Speed Requirement in English is 30 words per minute and in Hindi is 25 WPM.
  • Must be typed on a personal computer and no editing tools or spell check allowed.
  • For Hindi Typing Kruti Dev and Mangal fonts will be provided for the test.
Document Verification

Candidates will be called for Document Verification based on their performance in the examination. The number of candidates selected for this stage will match the number of vacancies, and they will be chosen according to their merit and preferences.

Medical Examination

Candidates must meet the prescribed Medical Standards for the post(s) they have applied for.

It is essential for applicants to carefully review the medical standards specific to each post, as those deemed medically unsuitable will not be offered any alternative positions.

RRB NTPC Application Process

RRB NTPC Application Window is open now and candidates can fill out their RRB NTPC Application Form by visiting the official website of the RRB. The RRB NTPC Notification 2024 provides a clear procedure for applying online. Here’s a step-by-step guide to assist you with the RRB NTPC Application Process:

  1. Visit the Official Website of the RRB.
  2. Click on “Apply” and then select “Create Account” at the top of the homepage.
  3. If you have an existing account, log in with your Username and Password. If you are a new user, enter your personal details as required.
  4. After submitting your initial details, you will receive OTPs on your registered mobile number and email. Enter these OTPs to receive your Registration Number, which will be sent to your email and mobile.
  5. Log in using the “Candidate Login” button on the homepage with your Registration Number and password.
  6. Enter information about your educational qualifications, community (UR/OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/EWS), gender, religion, ex-serviceman status, PwBD status, minority status, economically backward class, and any applicable age relaxation.
  7. After completing Part I, proceed to the payment page and select your preferred payment method.
  8. Specify your preferences for posts and languages.
  9. Upload your photograph and signature. Ensure the photo is in JPG/JPEG format, scanned at 100 DPI with dimensions of 35mm x 45mm or 320 x 240 pixels. The signature should be 50mm x 20mm or 140 x 60 pixels.
  10. Review your application, confirm the declaration, and submit your RRB NTPC Application Form before the deadline.

Application Fees

To complete your RRB NTPC Application Form, make sure you have submitted the application fee according to your category as mentioned in the RRB NTPC Notification. The application fee must be paid online using internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. All applicable service charges are the responsibility of the candidate. Payment is only accepted through these online methods; alternative payment options are not available.

Applications submitted without the required fee will be automatically rejected and will not be reconsidered. No appeals regarding such rejections will be entertained. Candidates applying for the RRB NTPC have to pay the prescribed fee as per their category detailed below:
