1. Tracks to Taj Nagar
Introduction
- Taj Nagar is a village near Gurgaon.
- The villagers wanted a railway station in their village.
- They demanded it for about 25 years.
- The railway authorities could not provide funds for the station.
What the Villagers Did
- The villagers decided to solve the problem themselves.
- They collected about 21 lakh rupees.
- Everyone contributed according to their capacity.
- Contributions ranged from ₹3,000 to ₹75,000.
- An eleven-member committee was formed to collect money and manage the work.
Why the Station Was Needed
- Many villagers travelled to Gurgaon, Delhi, and Rewari.
- Students had to travel for higher education.
- The nearest railway stations were about 6 km away.
- Travelling to these stations was difficult and time-consuming.
Result
- Construction began in January 2008.
- The railway station started operating on 7 January 2010.
- It became the first railway station in the country built without any financial spending by the railway department.

2. Sitapur’s Light
Introduction

- MGP installed solar power mini-grids in villages.
- Solar panels were used to generate electricity.
- More than 3,500 customers received solar power within a little over a year.
Facilities Provided
Each paying household received:
- Two LED lights
- One mobile charging point
Cost
- Families paid ₹25 per week.
- This was cheaper than using kerosene.
