Early Life of Gulliver
Lemuel Gulliver was the third son of a small landowner in Nottingham shire. He decided to settle down in London to practise medicine. He was married to Endmon Burton, who brought him a good dowry. He took up a surgeon’s job at the ship Antelope’ when his medical practice didn’t prove very successful. The ship sailed from Bristol for the South Sea. The ship was overtaken by a violent storm and got wrecked. Many sailors died but Gulliver was able to swim ashore.
Gulliver की प्रारंभिक जिन्दगी
Lemuel Gulliver नौटिंघमशायर के एक छोटे से जमींदार का तीसरा लड़का था। उसने डाक्टरी करने के लिए लंदन में बसने का निर्णय किया। उसका विवाह Endmon Burton के साथ हुआ जो उसके लिये अच्छा दहेज ले कर आयी थी। उसने समुद्री जहाज ‘Antelope’ पर एक सर्जन का काम ले लिया क्योंकि उसकी डाक्टरी (practice) बहुत कामयाब साबित नहीं हुई। जहाज ब्रिसटल से दक्षिणी सागर की ओर चल दिया। एक उग्र तूफान से जहाज घिर गया और वह टूट गया। बहुत से नाविक मर गये लेकिन Gulliver तैर कर समुद्री तट पर पहुँचने में सफल हो गया।
In the Land of Lilliputians
When Gulliver woke up, he found himself bound with chains. A crowd of pigmies surrounded him. They were just 6 inches in height. They were shooting arrows that caused Gulliver a lot of pain. He was taken to the King on a specially made carriage. The King accompanied by lords of his court came to see Gulliver. He was nicknamed as the man-mountain’. The Emperor, the Empress and the young prince and princess looked at Gulliver with surprise and wonder. The King tried to speak with him but neither of the two could communicate as the one didn’t understand the language of the other. The King ordered to make elaborate arrangements for Gulliver’s boarding and lodging. He was thoroughly searched and a list of articles received from him were made. His watch was an article of great surprise and wonder for people.
Lilliputians के देश में
जब Gulliver नींद से उठा तो उसने स्वयं को जंजीरों से बँधा हुआ पाया। बौनों की भीड़ ने उसे घेर लिया। वे सिर्फ 6 इंच ऊंचे थे। वे तीर चला रहे थे जिससे Gulliver को काफी कष्ट पहुंचा। उसे एक विशेष प्रकार की बनायी गयी गाड़ी पर लिटा कर राजा के पास ले जाया गया। अपने दरबार के लाडों के साथ राजा Gulliver को देखने आया। उसे ‘पहाड़ (विशाल) मनुष्य’ का उपनाम दिया गया। राजा, रानी, युवा राजकुमार और राजकुमारियों ने Gulliver की ओर हैरानी और आश्चर्य के साथ देखा। राजा ने उससे बात करने का प्रयत्न किया किन्तु एक दूसरे की बोली न समझने के कारण, वे आपस में संप्रेषण नहीं कर पाये। राजा ने Gulliver के रहने और खाने के लिए विस्तृत प्रबंध करने की आज्ञा दी। उसकी पूर्णरूप से तलाशी ली गयी और उससे प्राप्त हुई चीजों की एक सूची बनाई गयी। लोगों के लिये उसकी घड़ी बहुत हैरानी और आश्चर्य की वस्तु थी।
Test of Ability and merit in Lilliput
Gulliver’s good behaviour won him the favour of the King and the court. He hoped to be released soon. He could now understand their language. Some of the activities of the Lilliputians amused Gulliver. All the candidates for high offices had to prove their skills in dancing on a tight rope. Even Flimnap, the Treasurer and the chief ministers had to prove their superiority by dancing on a tight rope. Another activity to judge the skill and merit of the candidates was leaping over or creeping under a stick which the Emperor held in his hand. The winners were rewarded. Gulliver was released on certain conditions framed by Bolgolam, a member of the Imperial Cabinet. He was very hostile to Gulliver. Gulliver was to abide by the conditions. He was also allowed food and drink sufficient for the support of 1728 Lilliputians.
Lilliput में योग्यता और श्रेष्ठता की परीक्षा
Gulliver के अच्छे व्यवहार ने राजा और दरबार के लोगों का दिल जीत लिया। उसे आशा थी कि शीघ्र ही उसे मुक्त कर दिया जायेगा। अब वह उनकी भाषा समझ सकता था। Lilliput के लोगों की कुछ गतिविधियाँ Gulliver को बहुत उपहासपूर्ण लगी। ऊंचे पदों के सभी उम्मीदवारों को एक कसी हुई रस्सी के ऊपर नृत्य करने की अपनी चतुराई सिद्ध करनी पड़ती थी। Filmnap, खजानची और मुख्यमंत्रियों को भी एक कसी हुई रस्सी पर नृत्य कर अपनी श्रेष्ठता को सिद्ध करना पड़ता था। उम्मीदवारों की चतुराई और श्रेष्ठता का निर्णय करने के लिये एक अन्य गतिविधि थी-उनको एक छड़ी के ऊपर से छलांग या नीचे से निकलना होता था, जिसे राजा अपने हाथ में पकड़ता था। विजेताओं को ईनाम दिये जाते थे। Gulliver को कुछ शतों के साथ, जिन्हें मंत्रिमंडल के एक सदस्य Bolgolam ने तैयार किया था, मुक्त कर दिया गया। वह मंत्री Gulliver के प्रति शत्रुता रखता था। Gulliver को उन शतों का पालन करना था। उसे उतने भोजन और पेय की अनुमति दी गयी जो 1728 Lilliput के लोगों का पेट भर सकता था।
Gulliver in the Metropolis Mildendo
Permission was granted by the King to Gulliver to go around the metropolis Mildendo. A royal proclamation asked people to keep away from Gulliver’s route to avoid being crushed by the ‘man-mountain’. The windows and roofs were crowded to see Gulliver. Gulliver found the metropolis capable of holding five hundred thousand people. Shops and markets were well stocked. The Empress smiled graciously to see Gulliver. She offered her hand through the window and Gulliver kissed it. Gulliver came to know that the country faced two dangers. The King belonged to the Little-Endians and the party believed that eggs must be broken at the smaller ends. The opposite party, the Big-Endians believed in breaking it at the bigger end. Besides, there was a conflict between those who wore high-heeled shoes and those who wore low-heeled shoes.
Gulliver राजधानी Mildendo में
राजधानी Mildendo के चारों ओर घूमने की अनुमति राजा ने प्रदान कर दी। एक शाही फ़रमान ने लोगों को Gulliver के यात्रा-मार्ग से दूर रहने और पहाड़-मानव से कुचल जाने से बचने को कहा। खिड़कियाँ और छतें Gulliver को देखने के लिए भरी पड़ी थी। राजधानी में पांच सौ हजार व्यक्ति रह सकते थे। Gulliver को देख महारानी शालीनता से मुस्कुरा दी। Gulliver की पता चला कि देश के सामने दो खतरे थे। राजा स्वयं Little-Endians से सम्बधित था और उसकी पार्टी यह विश्वास करती थी कि अण्डों को छोटे सिरों से तोड़ना चाहिये। विरोधी पार्टी Big-Endiansउन्हें बड़े सिरों से तोड़ने में विश्वास रखती थी। इसके अतिरिक्त जो लोग ऊंची ऐड़ियों के जूते पहनते थे और नीची ऐड़ियों के जूते पहनते थे, उनमें भी विवाद था।
External Danger from Blefuscu and Oliver Promised Help
The land of Lilliputians had a rival in Blefuscu. It was the only other great empire in the universe. The opposition party in Lilliput was in league with the Emperor of Blefuscu, the enemy of Lilliput. The Emperor of Blefuscu had now assembled a fleet to invade Lilliput. Gulliver promised his help to the Emperor of Lilliput. Gulliver waded through six feet deep channel that separated the two kingdoms. He succeeded in pulling fifty of the enemy’s largest ship to Lilliput. The Emperor was delighted and conferred on Gulliver the highest title of honour which existed in Lilliput.
Blefuscu से बाहरी खतरा और Gulliver द्वारा सहायता का वचन
Lilliputians का विरोधी Blefuscu का विरोधी था। सारे ब्रह्माण्ड में वही एक दूसरा साम्राज्य था। Lilliput में विरोधी पार्टी की Lilliput के शत्रु Blefuscu के राजा के सात सांठ – गांठ थी। Blefuscu के सम्राट ने अब Lilliput पर चढ़ाई करने के लिये एक जहाजी बेड़ा तैयार कर लिया था। Gulliver ने Lilliput के सम्राट को सहायता का वचन दिया। Gulliver छह फुट गहरे चैनल जो दो साम्राज्यो को अलग करता था, पानी में से चल कर पार किया। वह शत्रु के 50 बड़े जहाज Lilliput की ओर खेच लाने में सफल हुआ। सम्राट प्रसन्न हुआ और उसने Lilliput में उस समय की सबसे उच्च सम्मान-पद दे कर सुशोभित किया।
Emperor’s Coolness and The Empress’s
Annoyance The Emperor expected Gulliver to destroy the army and the empire of Blefuscu completely. He wanted to rule over Blefuscu through a Viceroy. Gulliver was not in favour of causing so much damage to Blefuscu and the Emperor didn’t like it. He became cool to Gulliver. When Gulliver expressed his desire to visit Blefuscu, the King only gave a verbal permission. Another incident annoyed the Empress against Gulliver. Gulliver extinguished a fire in the apartment of the Empress. He took the Empress out safely. Touching the Empress was forbidden by the law. Hence, the Empress was greatly annoyed.
सम्राट का ठण्डापन अोर महारानी की नाराजगी
समुद्र चाहता था की Gulliver, Blefuscu की सेना और साम्राज्य को पूर्ण रूप से तबाह कर देगा। वह Blefuscuपर एक वायसराय के जरिये राज्य करना चाहता था। Gulliver, Blefuscu को इतना नुकसान पहुँचाने के पक्ष में नहीं था और सम्राट इसे पसंद नहीं करता था। वह Gulliver के प्रति ठण्डा पड़ गया। जब Gulliver ने Blefuscuजाने की इच्छा जाहिर की, तो राजा ने सिर्फ मौखिक आज्ञा ही प्रदान की। एक और घटना ने महारानी को Gulliver से नाराज कर दिया। Gulliver ने महारानी के भवन में लगी आग को बुझाया था। वह महारानी को उठाकर सुरक्षित रूप बाहर ले आया था। महारानी को स्पर्श करने की कानूनी मनाही थी। इस प्रकार महारानी बहुत नाराज थी।
Flim nap’s Hostility and Conspiracy
Against Gulliver Flimnap poisoned the ears of the King that the man-mountain Gulliver consumed so much food and his maintenance was ruining the economy of Lilliput. He should be dismissed from the country. One day, a lord from the court informed Gulliver Fliminap and Bolgolam had conspired against him and had prepared articles of impeachment against him.
1. He was accused of touching the person of the Queen while extinguishing the fire.
2. He refused to seize the remaining ships of Blefuscu.
3. He had secret discussions with the ambassador of Blefuscu.
4. No formal permission of visiting Blefuscu was granted by the Emperor.
5. Gulliver would not be put to death but would be blinded in the eyes.
Flimnap का विरोध औ Gulliver के विरूद्ध षड़यंत्र
Filmnap ने राजा के कानों को भर दिया कि Gulliver इतना भोजन खा जाता है और उसके रख-रखाव से देश की आर्थिक स्थिति दयनीय हो गयी थी। उसे देश से बाहर निकाल देना चाहिए। एक दिन एक दरबार के एक लार्ड ने Gulliver को सूचित किया कि Flimnap और Bolgolam ने उसके विरुद्ध षड्यंत्र रचा और उसके विरुद्ध महाभियोग का प्रस्ताव तैयार किया।
1. उसके विरुद्ध आग बुझाते समय महारानी को छूने का अपराध था।
2. उसने Blefuscu के बाकी जहाजों को पकड़ने से इन्कार कर दिया था।
3. उसने Blefuscu के राजदूत के साथ गुप्त मंत्रणाएँ की थी।
4. सम्राट ने उसे Blefuscu जाने के लिये कोई औपचारिक अनुमति प्रदान नहीं की थी।
5. Gulliver को मारा नहीं जायेगा लेकिन उसे आँखों से अन्धा कर दिया जायेगा।
Gulliver’s Escape from Lilliput
After receiving confidential information about the conspiracy, Gulliver decided to slip away and take shelter in Blefuscu. One day he secretly waded through the channel and reached Blefuscu. He was welcomed by the King and his subjects. An envoy from Lilliput brought a message to handover Gulliver to them for his trial. The Emperor ignored the message. But Gulliver didn’t want to become a bone of contention between Lilliput and Blefuscu. So he decided to leave Blefuscu for his native land. Gulliver discovered a boat of normal size that could take Gulliver over the sea.
Gulliver का Lilliput से बच निकलना
षड्यंत्र की प्रामाणिक सूचना मिलने के बाद, Gulliverने वहां से बच निकला और Blefuscu में शरण लेने का निश्चय किया। एक दिन वह गुप्त रूप से चैनल में से चल कर Blefuscu पहुंचा। राजा और प्रजा ने उसका स्वागत किया। एक दूत Gulliver को Lilliput वापिस भेजने का सन्देश लाया ताकि वहां उस पर मुकदमा चलाया जा सके। सम्राट ने सन्देश की परवाह नहीं की। Gulliver, Lilliput और Blefuscu के बीच झगड़े की जड़ नहीं बनना चाहता था।
इसीलिये उसने Blefuscu को छोड़ स्वदेश जाने का निर्णय लिया। Gulliver को एक आम प्रकार की किस्ती मिल गयी जो उसे समुद्र पार ले जा सकती थी।
Gulliver’s Reunion with Family
The Emperor and the Royal family came out to bid Gulliver a farewell. He presented him a lot of gold and necessary provisions. Gulliver stuffed the boat with animals and freshwater and set sail for the voyage. He caught sight of an English ship. Gulliver came back home and was very happy to meet his wife and children.
Gulliver का परिवार के साथ मिलन
महाराजा और राजपरिवार Gulliver को अलविदा कहने आया। उसने Gulliver को बहुत सा सोना और आवश्यक रसद प्रदान की। Gulliver ने जहाज में जानवर और ताजा पानी भरा और यात्रा के लिये निकल पड़ा। उसकी नजर एक अंग्रेजी जहाज पर पड़ी। Gulliver घर वापिस आ गया और अपनी पत्नी और बच्चों से मिलकर बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ।
