“The Lost Child” is a touching story about a small boy who goes to a spring fair with his parents. He is very happy and full of excitement as he walks through the fair. On the way, he gets attracted by toys, sweets, garlands, balloons, and other beautiful things. Though he wishes to have them all, he knows his parents will not buy them for him, so he quietly moves on.
At the fair, he sees sweet sellers selling gulab-jamun, rasgulla, jalebi, and burfi, but he does not insist. Then he sees a flower-seller, a balloon man, and a snake-charmer. Finally, he wishes to take a ride on the roundabout and asks his parents for permission. But when he turns around, he finds that his parents are missing.
He becomes frightened and starts crying loudly, calling out for his mother and father. He runs here and there in panic through the crowd, but he cannot find them. A kind man in the crowd hears him crying and picks him up. The man tries to comfort the child by offering him sweets, balloons, flowers, and rides, but the child refuses everything. Now he wants nothing – not toys, sweets, or balloons – he only wants his parents.
The story shows the innocence of a child and the strong bond of love between parents and their children. It teaches that the love and security of parents are more precious than any material pleasure.

“The Lost Child” (खोया हुआ बच्चा) एक भावनात्मक कहानी है जिसमें एक छोटा बच्चा अपने माता-पिता के साथ वसंत के मेले में जाता है। वह बहुत खुश और उत्साहित होता है। रास्ते में उसे तरह-तरह के खिलौने, मिठाइयाँ, फूलों की माला, गुब्बारे और सांप वाला आदमी दिखाई देता है। वह सब कुछ लेना चाहता है, पर जानता है कि उसके माता-पिता मना कर देंगे, इसलिए वह कुछ नहीं कहता और आगे बढ़ जाता है।
मेले में पहुँचकर वह झूला (राउंडअबाउट) देखने लगता है और अपने माता-पिता से झूला झूलने की अनुमति माँगता है। लेकिन जब वह पीछे मुड़कर देखता है, तो उसके माता-पिता वहाँ नहीं होते। बच्चा डर जाता है और ज़ोर-ज़ोर से रोते हुए “माँ, पिताजी!” पुकारने लगता है। वह इधर-उधर दौड़ता है पर उन्हें नहीं पाता।
एक दयालु व्यक्ति उसे भीड़ से निकालकर गोद में उठा लेता है और उसे चुप कराने की कोशिश करता है। वह बच्चे को मिठाइयाँ, गुब्बारे, फूल और झूले दिखाता है, पर अब बच्चे को इनमें कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं होती। वह केवल एक ही बात कहता है – “मुझे मेरी माँ चाहिए, मुझे मेरे पिता चाहिए।”
यह कहानी दिखाती है कि बच्चों के लिए माता-पिता का प्यार और सुरक्षा किसी भी चीज़ से बढ़कर होती है। यह हमें सिखाती है कि परिवार और प्रेम ही सच्ची खुशी का आधार हैं।
