The following table is a general guide to English admission requirements. If your English results are below the levels listed, you will require full-time English study at Navitas English before beginning your academic program at SIBT.

SIBT accepts the following English language results:

  • TOEFL
  • Relevant high school English language results (in some countries only – see table below for details)

SIBT accepts certified forecast/provisional examination results on pre-requisite courses in the application stage, but final results are required prior to confirmation of enrolment.

How do I know if I have been accepted?

A letter of offer is confirmation of a successful application

You will receive an email from us containing your Letter of Offer if your application is successful. We aim to make offers within 72 hours if your supporting documents are complete, but there are some cases where it may take a bit longer.

If you have not received a response from us within 10 days, contact your agent/representative or email admissions@sibt.nsw.edu.au if you applied without an agent/representative.

Sydney City Campus

Get ready to study in the heart of Sydney’s central business district! We’re located directly across from Hyde Park and just minutes from shopping centres, services, cafés, and more. Plus, if you need a study break or have some spare time between classes, then you’re within walking distance of iconic destinations like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We’re also very close to all modes of transport, meaning you have easy and full access to all the best our city has to offer.

Our brand new, state-of-the-art campus was designed specifically with our students in mind so that you could thrive in a modern, vibrant and inspiring learning environment.

Libraries

SIBT Sydney campus has its own library on campus where our students can borrow books, research, quietly study or use computer and printing facilities. It has all the resources you need to learn and to prepare for assessments. Our friendly and experienced librarians are available to assist you with research and referencing.

If you need additional resources, then you can head on over to the world leading State Library of NSW which is only ten minutes’ walk from SIBT. There are also eight other libraries in the city that can be accessed for free.

Classrooms

To enhance your personal learning, we have a small class design. All lecture rooms have a maximum capacity of 50 students. Smaller classes provides you with increased interaction with lecturers, encouraging conversation, questioning and group discussions, and ensures that your classroom learning is maximised.

Tutorial rooms are smaller classrooms and hold a maximum of 25 students. Our students use both types of study rooms each week.

Student Spaces

Two independent learning areas are available on campus where students can hang out, eat, relax or study quietly between classes. Facilities include a kitchen with microwave, TV and pool table.

Campus Library

The Navitas Library provides SIBT students an academic lending collection, computers, printing facilities, a quiet study space, group meeting rooms and specialist library staff for research assistance and direction.

The Collection

The library offers a course-specific collection, covering a wide-range of subjects including economics, business, and engineering.

Prescribed Textbooks

The library provides access to copies of the prescribed textbooks, whether to borrow or use in the library. The Special Reserve collection will always hold a copy of every prescribed textbook for 2-hour use in the library. Copies that can be borrowed have a 7-day loan period. Please keep in mind that these are in high demand.

Referencing

Referencing is an integral part of tertiary study. Students must acknowledge their sources of information and credit them where appropriate. Becoming familiar with and understanding the importance of referencing is a key to academic success.

Different subjects use different referencing styles. Ask your lecturer for the name of the style you should use in your assessment task. The most common referencing systems used at SIBT are:

Library staff can provide guidance and assistance with referencing; however, we cannot complete your referencing for you or do a complete check of your references and citations.

Printing and Copying

Printing, scanning, and copying facilities are available to current students using a current SIBT student card.

Student print accounts are autoloaded with credit every session for both printing and copying. If required credit can be topped at the library desk or at SIBT administration. Printing credit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Please note unused credit does not roll over.

  • A4 black and white 11c per page
  • A4 colour A4 80c per page

Scanning

Photocopiers in the library and in Lab 311 can be used to scan to email or directly to a USB drive. Scanning is a free service to current students.

Copying Limits

For text-based resources, you may copy and communicate a ‘reasonable portion’. A ‘reasonable portion’ is defined as follows:

  • One chapter of a book, or 10% of the pages
  • One article from a journal or newspaper
  • All an artistic work, e.g., a diagram or photo (when not available for separate purchase).

Do you want to study at a brand new, high-tech campus? SIBT Sydney is a state-of-the art campus which also offers our students computer, internet, and printing facilities. Our classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboards and presentation/recording facilities. You have the option to ‘Bring Your Own Device’ to class or borrow one of our laptops or iPads for in-class participation or tutorial work.

Don’t worry about the internet as our campus is equipped with high-speed wireless internet, which is accessible and free to all our students on campus. To connect to the wifi, follow the steps below:

  • Connect to the ‘Navitas Students’ network
  • Enter the following details when prompted:
    • Username: students\your student ID number
    • Password

You can also request assistance directly from our on-campus IT support team. Located on Level 2 Reception, the iHELP Team provides quality IT and classroom support to all our students and teachers at the Sydney City Campus. The team offers a unique walk-up, face-to-face service that aims to personalise the students and teachers support experience.

Students pay tuition fees per unit as they progress through their study. To secure a place at SIBT, students must pay the tuition fees for the first four units of study before their program begins. If a student is only completing three units in the first session, the fourth unit’s fees will remain as a credit on their account. Fees are correct as at the time of printing. SIBT reserves the right to vary its fees at any time.

Overseas Health Cover (OSHC)

International students also need to obtain Overseas Health Cover for the duration of their studies in advance of arriving in Australia. Students can expect to pay approximately A$594 per year of study (2017).

How do I get to the SIBT campus?

We’re only a few minutes’ walk away from Museum Station! If you’re catching the train, hop off at Museum Station and follow the Bathurst Street exit sign. As you walk through the tunnel, you will see escalators to your left. Go up the escalators and then walk straight to our campus at 255 Elizabeth Street.

You can also access the campus from St James and Town Hall stations. You can also access the campus from the Gadigal metro station.

We are located in the heart of Sydney, a diverse city in NSW. Sydney is one of the safest places for international students to live and study, with restrictions having eased up in NSW and over 90% of those aged 16+ fully vaccinated.
