Requirements for International Applicants
Lambton’s medium of instruction is English in all our classrooms, lectures, laboratories, and program workplace components. Strong communication skills are an essential component of academic engagement, professional development, and post-graduate success.
All international applicants will need to demonstrate their English language proficiency To be considered for admission, applicants must submit proof of English proficiency through one of the following in-person test methods:
- IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0
- TOEFL IBT: Overall score of 70
- PTE Academic: Overall score of 53
- CAEL: Overall score of 60
- CELPIP: CLB 7
- Lambton Institute of English Placement Test: Overall score of 70
- Completion of an English pathway program at a recognized partner school
Program Exceptions
Our Pharmacy Technician (PHRM) requires an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual bands less than 6.0. For other accepted tests for this program, please refer to Ontario College of Pharmacists Language Proficiency Requirements.
Recognized English Pathway Programs
Applicants who do not meet the standard English proficiency requirements may qualify for admission by successfully completing an English language program at one of Lambton College’s recognized pathway partners. The following institutions offer approved English programs that meet our entry requirements:
- ILAC: Required completion of UPP 3.2
- ILSC: Required completion of A1 level

Meeting the minimum English proficiency requirements does not guarantee admission to Lambton College. Admission decisions are competitive and based on a combination of factors including language proficiency, academic performance, relevant experience, and program demand. Lambton reserves the right to require proof of proficiency in English from any applicant. This may require any applicant to complete English-language testing to demonstrate proficiency. Lambton reserves the right to add or remove language proficiency requirements or tests at any time.

Lambton College’s Sarnia Campus is located in Sarnia, Ontario and the main buildings on site are Building A, B, C, D, and E where the majority of the classrooms and offices are located. Lambton College Community Employment Services is an Employment Ontario program funded in part by the Government of Canada and is located at the Sarnia Campus, Building N. This centre is a one-stop access point for employment-related services for the Lambton County community.
Fire School

The Fire School is an industrial fire training facility that services students in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training, Fire Science Technology, and Police Foundations programs. It is also a training ground for industrial fire training clients. The Fire School is about a 15 minute drive from the main campus in Sarnia.

The Lambton College Ottawa campus is home to the Centre for Graduate Studies and offers post-graduate level programs that are promoted to international students. The campus is located at the Saint Paul University.

Lambton in Mississauga was opened in partnership with Queen’s College who is licensed to administer the curriculum. International students taking programs in Mississauga will be learning in a challenging, but friendly environment designed to meet the specific needs of an international student. For the 2025/26 academic year (Spring, Fall, Winter), top international students will be eligible to receive entrance scholarships of up to $4,000 in Sarnia and up to $3,600 in Ottawa.

Eligible Ottawa Programs
Does my high school forward my records onto the Accessibility Centre at Lambton College?
No. All elementary and high school records are kept at the last school the student attended.
Who has access to my confidential records?
Only appropriate staff in the Accessibility Centre can access a student’s reports.
Are there additional services for students with learning disabilities?
Yes, a learning strategist and assistive device technologist is available to work with students with learning disabilities to provide strategies and to demonstrate specialized software that may be available.
Will my professors know about my accommodations?
If the student requires academic accommodations, the student must forward his/her accommodation plan to his/her professors. The student is not required to share diagnostic information with professors.
Can I access accessibility services during midterms?
Yes, student can contact the Accessibility Centre at any point in the year to determine their accommodation needs and eligibility requirements.
If I write tests in the Testing Centre, do I have to write all of my tests there?
No, a student is not obligated to write all of his/her tests in the Testing Centre.
What happens if I need to write a test outside regular office hours?
If given proper advance notification, staff can be available for a test invigilation outside regular office hours.
What happens to my file when I graduate or leave Lambton College?
Files are kept for 10 years and then they are shredded.
