Why Niagara College?

We are driven by our vision to enrich lives and fulfill dreams.

We are committed to providing outstanding applied education and training for a changing world. Our focus on student success is unwavering. Our support for our community is strong. Our perspective is global and growing. We are guided by our:

Strategic Plan 2022–2027

What We Do. Who We Are. This is NC.

Welcome

At the heart of Niagara College – the centre of our NC circle – are our people. Our employees who are united in their focus on students; who, through every action, create a welcoming and inclusive environment; who continuously innovate and trailblaze through challenges that come their way and who are passionate in their work and in working together as a team.

Our people are also our students, who are core to everything we do as a college. As our students evolve in their needs and goals, we evolve with them. And our people include the community around us, the industries we support and our commitment to the overall well-being of those with whom we live and work.

Niagara College’s 2022 – 2027 Strategic Plan is centred on our people. Developed through extensive consultations with our employees, our students and our community partners, the Plan builds on our unique and strong organizational culture and charts our way forward, leveraging past achievements and core strengths. The events of the COVID pandemic have impacted all parts of the world – including Niagara College.

Through all of the change, Niagara College remains unwavering in our focus on students, on being welcoming and passionate in all that we do and in continuing to trailblaze new paths through innovative and creative work. Our organizational culture is a core part of our new Strategic Plan and a key differentiator that drives our success.

Board of Governors

As representatives of the community, the Board of Governors of Niagara College is the governing body of the College and has responsibility for fiduciary oversight and institutional performance.

The Board of Governors’ mandate is to govern Niagara College by establishing appropriate governance structures, including setting the vision, strategic directions, overall goals and outcomes, hiring and evaluating the CEO, approving the annual business plan, budget and annual report, and assessing attainment of corporate goals and outcomes and effectiveness of board governance. All of its decisions and policies are made for the best interest of the institution, not for particular constituents.

If you are interested in being considered for a future governor position, please contact or submit your cover letter and resume to Michelle Goulet at migoulet@niagaracollege.ca.

Campuses

Niagara College features two modern campuses in the beautiful Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada.

No matter which direction you are travelling from, both the Welland Campus (WC) and Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus (NOTL) are easy to get to thanks to the transportation corridor and vast network of highways which connect Niagara College to both Canada’s largest city and the most populous regions of the USA. It takes approximately 20 minutes to drive between the campuses. Transit options are available.

Plans and Reports

We are happy to publicly provide our Annual Reports, Business Plan, Key Performance Indicators, Strategic Mandate Agreement, and many more reports and publications to you.
In many cases, Niagara College’s Office of Planning and Institutional Research helps facilitiates the reports and plans provided here. History

The college at that time consisted of one lone building, the “Initial Building” as it was known. This building was later renamed the “Hennipin Building”. That was the beginning, look what has happened since…

Insurance Inquiries

When am I going to get my insurance documents? Can you send me my policy number?

Your guard.me International Student Insurance is sent to your Niagara College student email after the Tenth (10th) Day of classes. Please check your inbox and junk mail for this email.

If you require any medical attention before it arrives, please ensure to keep the receipts for any payments made. Once you receive your guard.me Insurance information, you can submit a claim for reimbursement if it is covered under your guard.me Policy.

I want to enroll my dependents but I have not received my policy number yet. How do I proceed?

Once you receive your policy, add the dependents as soon as possible, you have 30 days from the policy start date to purchase the dependent policy with the option to backdate and match the main applicant (yourself). This is done directly through guard.me.

I need to prove that I have insurance before travelling to Canada, can you send me my documents now?

If you are a registered student, your insurance will be valid on the first day of the month that you start your studies (either January 1st, April 1st or September 1st). The confirmation will be sent to you after the Tenth (10th) Day of class.

If you plan to arrive early in Canada before the start of your program, it is recommended that you secure additional medical insurance coverage through our Early Arrival Insurance option which provides coverage between your arrival date and the start of your program. Early arrival is a one-time purchase only, it cannot be purchased beyond the program start date. Please visit guard.me/niagaracollege to order Early Arrival Insurance.

I already have coverage, is there an option to Opt-out of Guard.me insurance?

GuardMe Insurance is mandatory for all international students studying in Canada at Niagara College. If you have OHIP as well as Private Health Insurance you may be able to opt-out, however there are some requirements and restrictions.

If you have OHIP and private health insurance, please send your documents along with your request to intlfees@niagaracollege.ca.

Note: The request must be completed prior to the 10th day of classes otherwise it will be denied, without exceptions. Once a Guard.me policy is issued it cannot be cancelled.

Where can I find out more about my Insurance Policy and is there an App available?

You can find lots of information (including coverage information) on our website under Insurance Information: international.niagaracollege.ca/isa/insurance-information/.

Download the App: The new GuardMe Mobile App is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store! The app is designed to provide you with effortless access to your health insurance benefits.

The App allows users to easily submit claims, verify policy and coverage details, find nearby medical providers, and more.

Refund Inquiries

I have a credit on my account, how can I get that back?

Refunds can only be processed once a student has completed their final term of study, if they do not have another existing application. Once you have completed your final term of study, please email intlfees@niagaracollege.ca and we will review your request for refund.

My account is not linked to my NC email address, can you send my e-transfer refund to my personal email address?

Your bank account does not need to be linked to any email addresses. When we send your e-transfer to your NC email address, you will be directed to your bank’s website where you can choose how your e-transfer is deposited.

We cannot send e-transfers to any other email address than your NC student email.

Why does my refund go back to the original account used at the time of payment?

In order to adhere to our payment and refund policies, any credits relating to an out of country payment must be returned to the original account that was used at the time of payment. This is noted on our website prior to making a payment using our Global Payment method: international.niagaracollege.ca/tuition-payment/.

In the event that the original account is closed, please contact your bank for proof of account closure and forward to intlfees@niagaracollege.ca.

How long will it take for my refund to be processed?
