Course fees are subject to change. Fees are based on the number of courses in which you are enrolled (except Bachelor of Design). All costs are in Canadian dollars. To convert fees into other currencies, access the Bank of Canada converter.

  • Domestic Fees – To be eligible for domestic fees you must be either a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada (otherwise known as landed immigrant) or an exempted international student or a dependent, effective on the dates specified on an annual basis. Tuition rates for domestic out-of-province student tuition are based on your province of residence.
  • International Fees – Students who do not have the status specified above, or who apply to York and declare themselves as visa students will be charged tuition fees at international rates.

Paying Your Fees

Your Student Account Online Statement reflects all charges assessed to your account. For domestic students, you can pay your student account through your bank, credit union or caisse populaire using telephone or online banking. For international students, York University has partnered with two providers (CIBC and Western Union Business Solutions) who offer secure online portals for International Students to make payments for course/program fees, residence, health care and UHIP charges.

International Entrance Scholarships

When you apply to York University as an International Student for Fall 2025 or Winter 2026 admission, you’ll automatically be considered for an entrance scholarship on the basis of your final admission average. These scholarships recognize your academic achievements and range from $2,500 to $37,500.

All Applicants

What is the deadline to apply for admission?

The deadline for Ontario high school students to submit their application for admission to Fall (September) 2026 is January 15, 2026. For all other students the deadline for guaranteed consideration is February 2, 2026. Please note that we will continue to accept and assess applications after the February 2 deadline until each program is full. To ensure adequate time to apply for a study permit (if applicable) we recommend you apply as early as possible. Visit our Application Deadlines webpage for details.

When can I expect a decision on my application?

Undergraduate applications are typically assessed within six weeks, once all required documents are received by the admissions team. If you have any questions about your application, visit I’ve Applied page for information about required documents.

Can I monitor the status of my application?

Shortly after you submit your application, you will receive an acknowledgment e-mail from York University, providing you with a York Student Number to track your application status in our applicant portal, MyFile. If you have not received a student number within 4-5 business days of submitting your application, please check your spam and junk folders and be sure to add info@yorku.cato your Safe Senders list.

The status of my application is blank. What does this mean?

Depending on when you applied, you may see a blank status if your application is pending assessment. Please ensure your application is complete to avoid assessment delays and continue checking the status of your application on your MyFile account.

The status of my application is ‘Waitlisted.’ What does this mean?

Being waitlisted for admission means that while you have met all of the minimum admission requirements, your chosen competitive program of interest has reached capacity at this time. We continue to monitor the waitlist and will grant offers as space becomes available.

Please continue to check MyFile for any update to the status of your application(s).

I am unable to log into my MyFile account. What should I do?

Kindly note that it may take 4-5 business days for your MyFile account to be active. If, after this length of time, you are still unable to log in please e-mail study@yorku.ca.

College/University Transfer Students

I’m a college/university transfer student. How will my application be evaluated?

York continues to welcome transfer applicants, and Transfer Credits are awarded based on your most recent transcript.

Who is considered a ‘transfer’ applicant?

A transfer applicant is a student that has previously attended post-secondary studies referring to college or university or is currently enrolled in college or university.

Who is considered a ‘mature’ applicant?

A mature applicant is an individual that has completed their high school diploma but has never attended nor attempted post-secondary studies previously in any capacity.

What if I went to college AND university?

You will be considered a transfer applicant and York will review transcripts from all of your previous studies (both college and university) to assess admission and transfer credit eligibility.

Can I apply if I’ve been out of school for several years?

Yes! York welcomes applicants who are returning to their education after a break. Your work, life, and learning experiences can help strengthen your overall application.

International High School Students

How do I get an attestation letter from the province?

Starting January 22, 2024, you’ll need a provincial attestation letter as part of your study permit application package. Find out more about this new requirement.

What do I do if my visa/study permit application gets delayed/rejected?

For questions and advising relating to Study Permits/Visa applications, please review York International’s website, and contact them directly.

How can I ensure that I satisfy English proficiency requirements?

If you need help to meet the required English proficiency, you may wish to consider one of York University’s English Language Institute’s three pathway programs to transfer directly into your desired undergraduate programs without a language test. Each program provides a strong foundation of English proficiency and extensive support for university preparation.
